Pilots and aircraft. The monitor reads the public feed of the Open Glider Network, which carries the positions that aircraft broadcast on FLARM, FANET, ADS-L, ADS-B and from phone apps. A position comes with a device address, and an address can lead to an aircraft and its pilot, so these are personal data. They are processed for the legitimate interest of measuring how light aircraft make themselves visible to one another, which serves the safety of everyone who flies.
Every choice recorded in the OGN device database is respected. A device whose owner asked not to be tracked is dropped on arrival and appears nowhere. One whose owner asked not to be identified is counted without its aircraft model or registration.
The raw feed is kept for seven days, so that a day can be computed again after a fix, and then deleted. Lists of device addresses are kept for the current and the previous month and then reduced to counts. Everything published on this site is an aggregate: counts, hours, shares and cells of at least a quarter of a degree. No track, no position of a named aircraft and no device address is ever published here. The method sets out what is kept, in its section 9.
To object, mark your device as not to be tracked in the OGN device database, which removes it from this monitor as from every service that follows the OGN terms, or write to the address above.
Visitors to this site. The site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics. Its server, rented from DigitalOcean in Amsterdam, writes each request with the visitor’s IP address to a log kept for 14 days, for security. Cloudflare sits in front of the server and handles every request. The maps load their tiles from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which therefore receive the visitor’s IP address. See the cookie page for what the site stores in the browser.
Your rights. You may ask for access to your data, its correction or deletion, a restriction of its use, and you may object to it, by writing to the address above. You may also complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
